Dermo-cosmetics

A branch of dermatology related to the aesthetic appearance of skin

Skin care meets Dermatology

Dermo-Cosmetics are skincare products that provide a more medical approach from other cosmetic skincare products. This is why these are usually found exclusively in pharmacies, and are highly recommended by dermatologists.

Our Range

With leading brands like Vichy, La Roche-Posay, and Skinceuticals as part of our portfolio, Prohealth is proud to say that we deliver the very best in skincare for people of all ages, skin types, and lifestyles both locally, and in neighbouring markets.

Discovered centuries ago in the small village of La Roche-Posay, in the heart of France, the unique Thermal Spring Water of La Roche-Posay has been recognized by the scientific community for its healing and protective virtues due to its high concentration of Selenium, which is a powerful natural antioxidant.

This extraordinary spring water is an essential ingredient in the development of all La Roche-Posay skincare products, and its properties are skilfully employed in the La Roche-Posay Thermal centre – the first European centre of thermal dermatology – in the treatment of skin disorders such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, severe burns, and also post-cancer therapy.

Extreme tolerance and efficacy for all skin types, even the most sensitive, are what differentiates this skincare brand, giving it unquestionable credibility with over 25,000 dermatologists who recommend it worldwide to millions of women, men, and children.

For maximum efficacy, La Roche-Posay’s products are designed using ingredients developed from extensive medical research. Some of the laboratory’s most notable molecular developments include: Mexoryl XL in the field of UV protection, Aqua Posae Filiformis as a new approach to the treatment of atopic dermatitis, and LHA as an exfoliating agent with superb tolerance. Studies with important findings related to a number of La Roche-Posay products have been published in prominent scientific journals such as The British Journal of Dermatology, The Journal of European Society of Dermatology and Venereology, and The Journal of Investigative Dermatology.

La Roche-Posay & Prohealth

By introducing La Roche-Posay Laboratoire Dermatologique exclusively to pharmacies in 1995, Prohealth Ltd introduced the first “dermo-cosmetic” brand locally. A new concept at the time, dermo-cosmetics rapidly became a very important aspect of skincare that has garnered the support of most healthcare professionals, foremost the dermatologist, but also the paediatrician, the GP, pharmacists, nurses, midwives, and many more.

With a dedicated team, Prohealth continues to represent and develop the brand by collaborating with various healthcare professionals, especially dermatologists and pharmacists. Thanks to this long-standing yet continuously developing collaboration, La Roche-Posay’s portfolio has evolved locally from a mere handful of products back then to a catalogue that today boasts over 90 skincare references. This is a clear reflection of the global trend that has established La Roche-Posay as one of the leading dermo-cosmetic skincare brands.

Since 2004, Prohealth has succeeded in establishing La Roche-Posay Laboratoire Dermatologique as a leader in the Libyan dermo-cosmetic market, and has recently been entrusted with other developing African markets.

Vichy skincare products combine the earth’s beneficial mineral properties with ground-breaking scientific research. In 1931, Dr Haller, a medical director at the Thermal Treatment Centre in the town of Vichy, France, discovered the therapeutic virtues of Vichy Thermal Spa Water on the skin. Originating more than 2,000 years ago in the heart of Auvergne’s volcanoes, and naturally rich in 15 rare beneficial minerals and antioxidants, Vichy Thermal Spa Water has been recognized for its remarkable soothing, fortifying and regenerative properties to help transform every woman’s skin quality. Dr Haller pioneered the first line of dermo-cosmetics powered by this water. He also identified “skin types” that required tailored treatments. Today, Vichy Thermal Spa water is at the core of all Vichy skincare products.

Vichy Laboratories bring healthcare professionals together to develop high-performance and well tolerated skincare products that offer effective ways to maintain and enhance the health of your skin – for it to be protected, revitalised, and to better retain water and nutrients. Vichy skincare products have been designed for today’s woman, with renowned anti-ageing brands such as LIFTACTIV, and NEOVADIOL being used by women worldwide daily, at different stages of their lives, for younger-looking skin. Vichy’s expert and award-winning camouflage foundation, DERMABLEND covers & conceals head to toe complexion flaws, from mild to severe imperfections, while improving the quality of life of people of every age, race and skin type.

Vichy have been pioneering research into hair growth and hair loss mechanisms since 1973, leading to the discovery of active ingredients such as Aminexil and Stemoxydine, today found in the market-leading DERCOS hair care products that offer solutions for most hair and scalp conditions.

Vichy & Prohealth

In March 2007, Prohealth was entrusted with exclusive marketing and distribution rights for the Vichy premium skincare brand in Malta, to be sold exclusively through the pharmacy channel. Prohealth has been working hand in hand with pharmacists ever since, to enable them to offer their clients an optimal, daily, skincare regimen, tailor-made to their individual needs, while continuing to develop the brand further with a variety of marketing initiatives targeting consumers seeking to improve their skin health.

In 2010, Prohealth introduced Vichy Laboratories to the Libyan market. Vichy is today one of the leading dermo-cosmetic brands sold in Libyan pharmacies. Prohealth has recently been entrusted with the launch of Vichy in other developing African markets.

Established in 1997, the SkinCeuticals research team, led by Dr. Sheldon Pinnell, helped pioneer the advent of cosmeceuticals with the original topical vitamin C formula that protects skin from premature signs of aging caused by environmental damage. Today, SkinCeuticals continues to set the industry standard by developing innovative and first to market technologies. Our mission is to provide you with advanced skincare backed by science. SkinCeuticals provides complete skincare solutions through dermatologists, plastic surgeons, medi-spas, and other skincare professionals, earning us a strong reputation in over 35 countries worldwide.

Research and innovation are at the core of the SkinCeuticals mission, and their dedication to science has established the brand as a leader in the advanced skincare arena. The company’s founding was the direct result of a revolutionary discovery that set the standard for antioxidant formulation. SkinCeuticals continues to pioneer next-generation products that will optimize the health and beauty of the skin—and change the face of skincare for years to come.

In order to maintain and improve the health and appearance of skin, a proper skincare regimen is essential. Although the specific products depend on skin type and skin conditions, every effective regimen must include three fundamental elements —Prevention, Protection, and Correction. SkinCeuticals’ product philosophy and consumer education programs are built around these principles. These three steps address and minimize the effects that environmental aggressors have on the skin and the use of topical antioxidants play an important part in this.
