August is already here, but summer is nowhere close to being over (as is evident by the current heatwave… is anyone else melting, right now?). There’s still plenty of fun to be had before autumn hits, so here are a few ideas that we’ve put together.
- Beach it
OK, so maybe this one’s a bit obvious, but there are so many beautiful beaches on our islands that we just had to mention it. Try visiting a different beach every time, instead of going to the one you’re used to. From rocky beaches, to sandy ones, and ones that allow dogs, there’s something for everyone! So, grab your bathing suit, get in the car (or a bus), and explore.
The Maltese islands are surrounded by gorgeous waters just waiting to be discovered – from sunken ships to amazing marine life, there’s so much to see and experience. A quick internet search will help you find the right diving centre where they will teach you everything you’ll need to know, and even organize the dive for you. Get your significant other or a few friends involved, and make that call!
- Al Fresco dining (or drinking)
Good company, delicious food, a glass of wine, and perhaps a pleasant summer breeze… what’s not to love? Plenty of restaurants and bars in Malta have an outside area, many of them boasting beautiful island views – the perfect setting for a romantic date.
- Special events
Bored? How could you be? There’s always something going on, in summer! The beer festival is happening right now, and will be going on until the 6th of August, there are plenty of village “festas” to check out, lots of live music and gig sessions all over the island, concerts, and so much more. Everything you need to know is only a click away.
- Horse Riding
Morning rides are relaxing, and so much fun! There are plenty of riding establishments in Malta and Gozo that would be happy to teach you how to ride, and take you out on a hack. Some stables are also close to the sea, which means you’ll even get to take in some stunning views at the same time, and easily hit the beach, after.
- Be a tourist
Why not do all those things that people on holiday do, here? Take a boat ride to Comino or the Blue Grotto, and make a day of it. You can also visit the National Aquarium, check out some cool local and exotic fish, and learn something new. Or, you can even make a plan to see a few temples and historical places.
So, what do you think? Do you like our ideas? Let us know if we’ve inspired you to try something new, and if you can think of anything else! We love hearing from you.
Enjoy your Summer!
